Grading
All projects are Graded based on the Michigan State Standards for Visual and Performing Arts. Students will be given a rubric, either digital or paper form, and they will turn in their rubric with their project. There are some main things we are looking for on most assignments. Not always will we be using standards from each of these categories, but here are the top ones, and a summary of what kind of things we do with that category
PerformThis is talking about how we make things. Are we responsible with materials, are we mastering techniques, are we being safe. Do we finish and publish our artwork after self evaluating and improving?
CreateAgain more in line with the actual art making, we want to be creating with critical thinking skills, and collaborating with each other, developing NEW ideas, making knowledgeable choices about materials and techniques, principles of design and processes.
AnalyzeBe able to describe our own artwork, improve our artwork, compare and contrast artwork to others, and identify personal and community meaning or connections to our artwork.
Analyze in Context |
Analyze and Make Connections |
Be able to understand, analyze and describe artwork and the historical, social, and cultural contexts. Meaning we are able to take other's viewpoints, and understand influence of culture on artwork, along with interpreting meaning
Make connections between art and other academic areas and areas in life...how does what we learn in art help you in other classes, or help your life skills, and critical thinking ability.
