Lesson Plans & Assessment
Arts standards. The NAEA has been developing a common core standard set for the arts. The standards explain what is to be taught and mastered at each level for all students grades EK-12th grade.
Getty Games are Games with Art concepts learned through games. Evernote---we use this system to organize our artwork and keep portfolios, where we track our work from year to year.
Let's Create Pottery is an app that teaches kids how to create a piece of pottery on the potters wheel. The app gives students tasks to try and match a certain design. Students read the commission request, build the pottery piece, sell it, collect coins to buy more supplies etc. The app teaches a variety of skills and builds on math, reading, science, and social studies components.

Networking: Collect and Share Ideas
Networking creates opportunities. I have gained many ideas through the online network systems, following art organizations and their updates on facebook, twitter, and teacher blogs. Involvement in network communities (whether they are based from on-line or in person) can lead to more well rounded ideas, and lend more time to focus on creating great lessons.
I want kids to be able to access the lessons we do here in the art room, and be able to recreate them at home. I also want to provide a resource for other teachers and parents. Lessons are organized by grade level with a brief description and photo of the lesson. As I mentioned before, building relationships with people in the same field helps to create better ideas or jog a memory to create a new idea. I hope you enjoy looking at what we've done and continue to do in our classroom! |
